DESCRIPTION

Krumbo Reservoir lies at the end of the road which leads east from highway 205 to the Center Patrol Road and Benson Pond.

The road passes through sage steppe habitat for most of the way, but overlooks a large marsh and later a nice pond to the north before reaching the reservoir.

WILDLIFE VIEWING AND PHOTOGRAPHING OPPORTUNITIES

The large marsh and field the road passes are home to numerous northern harrier and, in some years, short-eared owl. The pond can easily be scoped from the road, and usually contains good numbers of waterfowl, including redheads and canvassback, probably the best place on the refuge to compare these two, somewhat similar, species.

Krumbo Reservoir itself is the most reliable place on the Refuge to see Clarke's grebe, but rarely has many birds on it.
